What inspired you to become a dentist?

I remember my first toothache when I was 10 years old. Woke up with horrible pain in my front tooth. My dad took me to the dentist for an emergency visit and they did a root canal. The relief I felt after that appointment was memorable. I said that day then and there I am going to grow up to be a dentist. I started to become fascinated by everything teeth, I used to be the kid who would stare and be like,  "Why are your teeth crooked? Do you need  root canal? Did you go see the dentist?" But as time progressed, I noticed that a healthy smile meant confidence for many, and that missing or broken teeth meant struggling to eat, and that a toothache can disrupt a person’s life. I become more confident this is a path I was going to be passionate about and went forward pursuing it, and I am very grateful I got the opportunity to do so.

What is your philosophy on patient care?

I believe in a holistic and caring approach. Teeth are part of a whole human, and each of us is different. Thus, every patient that comes to my chair must be treated with respect, empathy, and kindness. Every patient must be given the space to express concerns, philosophies, and goals for their oral health. I believe in working with my patients to find the best plan of care for my themt that aligns with all the life factors my they experience. Furthermore, I believe in gentle and soothing care during treatment. It's very important to me that my patient is comfortable from start to end of treatment. 

What brought you to St. Hope Healthcare?

St. Hope’s mission resonated with me. I believe dental care should be a universal benefit that every single individual has access to on all levels, without having to struggle for it. Quality dental care should be accessible and a core in our communities so we can all have thriving oral health.
