Tips to Improve Morning Routine

If you’ve been thinking about make a change to your day to feel better, you’re not alone. As we near mid-year, some of you might be going strong with your healthy new year’s resolution, while others struggle to stay on track or get back to being healthy. making healthy food choices and increasing exercise. Some of you may have realized that sticking to strict diets is hard! Changing eating habits does not need to be extreme. Its always best to start with a small goal and continue adding additional goals every few weeks. Afterall, “slow and steady wins the race!” 


To help get you started, consider starting your day at least 30 minutes earlier. The extra time can help you kick-start your day in a healthy way. You might be surprised as to how much you can accomplish with the extra time.  


Tip # 1

Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! Drinking a minimum of 64 ounces or 8 cups of water daily, is great for your body and skin. Our body is made up of mostly water and living in hot climates will mean your body will probably need extra fluid. Kick-start your morning by drinking 1-2 cups of water, prior to drinking your morning coffee or tea. This one simple trick can help you feel better and live better. Drinking water after waking can help keep your bladder and kidneys healthy, helps to lubricate joints, and it can also improve digestion. 


Tip # 2

If your new to exercise, start slow. A five-minute stretch each morning can help loosen tight muscles and tendons. Prior to engaging in moderate exercise, such as fast-paced walking, aerobic activity, or jogging for example, be sure to stretch to help prevent injury during exercise. Stretching your body upon waking up can also help lower stress, improve blood circulation, and increase energy. 


Tip # 3

Consider making a healthy breakfast instead of skipping breakfast or going through a fast-food line to grab a breakfast sandwich, which are typically high in salt and fat. Go for a quick high-fiber meal such as microwavable quick oats made with cow’s milk or plant-based milk which are both rich in vitamin D and top with fresh berries!
